Very common mistake is that people work with the wrong repetiton ranges,  exercises and weight

You got to understand that there are principles you have to follow if you are after a specific outcome

Focus on few basic compound movements and get them right ( form on point before you start lifting heavy )

The weight you're lifting or the resistance you're overcoming has to challenge you

Work with reps of 3-5 and 3-5 mins rest inbetween of sets.

If you scared of getting bulky complete 2 sets per exercise this way you won't put on much muscle ( although you do need muscle to look good and be alive )

As for nutrition start by clearing your environment from unhealthy food and be concious of what you put in your mouth

To lose weight you need to be in a calorie deficit meaning you're eating below your daily calorie requirements that your body needs to maintain its current weight.
